Dear Residents of District 2,

I want you to know how grateful I am for your support. As I have walked all the neighborhoods in our District, I have personally talked with hundreds of you. I am thrilled by your commitments to our children’s education. I am positive that I can bring new energy to the School Board reflecting your ideas, commitment and caring.

We now have a little less than two weeks until the elections on November 2. The campaign has progressed well. We put out bright yellow signs in all our neighborhoods. We held cottage meetings in every neighborhood where you could attend and ask your questions to me personally. I have loved meeting you there! I have also gone door to door to meet you in your home. I’m sorry if I have missed you but feel free to email or call me if you have any questions.

I would like to share a little about myself and what I feel I can bring to the School Board. For the past 16 years I've been deeply involved in the education of children in our district. I've served as PTA President at Rock Canyon Elementary School and Timpview High School. I have also been PTA Legislative VP and Community Involvement Commissioner. In addition, I have served on school Community Councils (four years at Rock Canyon and three years at Timpview). Community Councils oversee tens of thousands of dollars in Trust Lands money that goes directly to the schools. I participated directly in these important financial decisions.

My participation has gone well beyond merely showing up at hundreds of meetings. I have proposed, developed and implemented innovative community outreach programs to benefit our students and their families. An example is the successful new low-cost ACT preparatory class at Timpview. For the past year I have attended all the School Board Meetings and retreats. I have heard the discussions and have compiled information to start as an informed and active member of the School Board should I be given the privilege to serve.

Through these experiences, I've come to know the parents, faculty and staff in our school district. Most importantly, I have come to know the kids. I will fight for them to have the best education possible. I believe that with careful planning and wise choices, we can provide that.

I am firmly grounded with the daily experiences in our schools. Two of my children have graduated from Timpview High School. My other three children are still in our schools. I have seen our school system from kindergarten through graduation. I have a strong working relationship with parents, teachers, administrators, community members and students. I am ready to hit the ground running.

The kids in Provo School District are my top priority. I am for strong academics, well-rounded experiences, safe environments and positive life opportunities for our children. I will work my hardest to represent our district.

I look forward to communicating more with you in the next week through email. If you have friends or neighbors that would like to learn more, please feel free to talk to them about me. You could also share this website.
